Happy Friday, y’all!

I’ll be back in “blogging mode” next week. It has been a busy-ish week for me this week, but I should be back to normal – or my version thereof – next week.

Tonight, my friend Kathryn and I will be hiking at Table Rock State Park, arriving at the top of the mountain just in time to see the sunrise. Pray for traveling mercies as we are to arrive at the park at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning which means I’ll be driving from Greenville, SC to the park and driving at night is NOT my favorite thing. But, I’m excited to see God’s handiwork in the morning from a different – and higher – perspective. Pictures will be posted, just so you know.

Happy Friday, y’all!

Hey, everyone!

Hope you all have had a great week! Back to school can be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. It’s all about perspective, right? On one hand, you have to get the kiddos up and out early in the morning which is NOT usually a fun process. On the other hand, you might actually find yourself with quiet time on your hands.

This has been my second week as a working mom and I’m still adjusting. While my kids are both in college, I still have a household to run and I’ve been a little off kilter the last two weeks. I think I’m getting my bearings back and adjusting life to my new schedule. I think. I’m working on it, anyway. Throw in training for a 5K three nights a week, and it’s been hectic. At least my version of hectic. (And who in their right mind trains for a 5K in August? Who? Please do not answer this question. It is strictly rhetorical.)

So, with school and work and all that those things entail, what adjustments have you had to make this week? As I said, both my children are in college. However, I still have to drive and my daughter two mornings a week (I still don’t love 8:00 a.m. classes after all this time!) and pick her up at noon. Only two more months and she can drive again if her doctor okays it. Two. More. Months. While it’s fewer than six months, it still seems like a long time. It is just enough to cut into your day and mess it all up. (Don’t tell her I said that. I’m glad I can do it.) So part of my adjustment this week has been getting up even a little bit earlier so that I can have my quiet time before she gets up. I’ve stuck to the laundry schedule pretty well. Cleaning is a little behind and I’m working on figuring that new schedule out. I think I’ve got it, but I’m not 100% positive.

I must confess that I have not been a good dinner maker for several weeks now. That is due to the 5K training. I can’t eat before I go run or I’ll get sick. (I did try it one night. Running while nauseous is not the most pleasant thing to do.) Then I get home and I’m too hot and sweaty to eat. By the time I’ve showered and cooled down, it’s too late to eat. So I’ve made my family suffer right along with me by not cooking dinner every night.  If I suffer, why shouldn’t they? 🙂 But I’m working to get that back on track next week as well.

Obviously, next week will be my “trial run” of my new scheduling ideas. I’m sure more adjustments will be needed and I’ll make them as I go along seeing what works and what doesn’t. By the way, I am loving my new job! Who knew? 🙂 I’m also making a list of indoor projects that I want to do – a little something for each room to mix it up a little and freshen things up without spending a lot of money. Pictures will come as projects progress.

Happy Friday, Everyone!

The weekend…it’s here. Are you going to get to enjoy it, or will you have to spend it “catching up” on things like laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, etc.? Our hope is that soon your weekends will be yours to savor and enjoy. That you will be able to sleep in on a Saturday morning without guilt. That you will have restful and relaxing Sundays. We want your weekends to be times of refreshment, rejuvenation, and rest.

Lynne: Here are my plans for the weekend. Friday I will be with Teresa serving at the Salvation Army shelter. It is also my day to wash sheets and probably a load of those stinky work clothes. I’ll stop by our home school group’s open house on Saturday and help out if needed, and then run by the grocery store. I have a very short list this week! Yay!  I will be a greeter for Kidz Creek (our children’s ministry) before services at church on Sunday because it’s my week for that. I’ll attend the early service. I’ll come home and take a nap, then I can go visit with my parents for a little while if they are going to be home. (They have a tendency to stay on the go, so we’ll have to see. If they won’t be home, it just means a longer nap for me.)

Teresa: I do not have to work Friday so my weekend starts early. Friday morning I will be going to serve at The Salvation Army. I will then go run errands as Friday is the day I get any errands, groceries, etc. done so I do not have to do that over the weekend. I will wash two loads of clothes tomorrow so that will be done also. On Saturday, well, it is a little depressing because we usually watch football all day. Football has come to end! Since we will be having spring time weather this weekend, I think I will spend some time on my porch with a good book. (No coffee for me! That would be Lynne.) Sunday I will attend church and come home and … well, I don’t have any other plans for Sunday and I like it that way!

We want to say how very proud we are of all of you who have stepped up and stepped out of your comfort zones this week and taken action to clear out clutter, cook a meal at home, take some time for yourself. We’ve read all your comments. You are now encouraging one another and that ‘s what we want – for all of us to encourage all of the others. Life is tough. We have hard days. Hard weeks and months, even. But know that you are not alone. God didn’t intend us to go through life’s journey alone. He sent us friends – whether they are in our own town or across the country – to connect with and to walk along side us as we work and grow and learn. We are thankful for each of you. You are helping us make one of our dreams a reality. And we are being encouraged along the way.

Now…sappy moments aside. 🙂 If you’ve worked on your challenge this week, we’d love to see pictures – the “before” and the “after.” If your project isn’t complete but you’ve made progress, we’ll take “along the way” pictures as well. Post them to our Facebook page and give a little caption (or a long one if you are so inclined) about what you accomplished this week and how it made you feel. If you made some meals at home, we’d love to see those, too. I mean, who doesn’t like to look at food? (I take pictures of food all the time. Maybe I’m just weird. ~ Lynne)

There will be another weekly challenge on Saturday. And we are already working on blogs for next week. Re-read some of the posts and comments. It’s so encouraging and exciting!
